Gregg Allman passes away

Gregg Allman was the singer for The Allman Brothers Band. He is also the ex-husband of Cher. We’re sad to inform you he passed away on Saturday, May 27. He was 69 years young.

The Southern rock innovator “passed away peacefully at his home in Savannah, Georgia,” according to a declaration on his website.

Gregg Alllman was married six times. His marriage with Cher lasted 4 years and concluded in 1979. He is survived by his wife, Shannon, and four children, including Elijah Blue, the child he shared with Cher. He also left behin three grandchildren.

Cher uploaded a genuine tribute to her ex on Twitter on Saturday. She wrote “I’VE TRIED… WORDS ARE IMPOSSIBLE GUI GUI FOREVER, CHOOCH.”

The singer was trying to defeat a drug addiction that lasted years and was diagnosed back in 2007 with hepatitis C. Gregg claims it was caused by a dirty tattoo needle. He underwent a liver transplant in 2010. In April 2017, Allman denied the reports saying that he had entered clinic care, writing in a Facebook post that he was at home “resting on my doctor’s orders.”

“Gregg struggled with many health issues over the past several years,” according to the statement on his website. “During that time, Gregg considered being on the road playing music with his brothers and solo band for his beloved fans, essential medicine for his soul. Playing music lifted him up and kept him going during the toughest of times.”

Greggs longtime manager was also a friend of the musician. He is Michael Lehman and told us “I have lost a dear friend and the world has lost a brilliant pioneer in music. He was a kind and gentle soul with the best laugh I ever heard. His love for his family and bandmates was passionate as was the love he had for his extraordinary fans. Gregg was an incredible partner and an even better friend. We will all miss him.”
