Instagram helps

Do you get the idea that someone you’re following on Instagram? That he or she is dealing with some kind of mental issues? Then you can soon report it to the new online “psychologist” Instagram.

It’s not the first time that the social media relates to mental problems. The developers already made an algorithm to recognize depression on the people that post pictures of themselves.

Instagram is especially a platform where we show the beautiful things of life, but some of us might focus too much on what other people think, and start basing the self-esteem on the reaction we receive.

This of course means negative consequences for their mental health. People’s lives might seem so perfect, but not everything is what it seems. The new feature allows everyone to anonymously report a problem or a situation in which someone can use some support. The person you reported then receives a messages saying “Someone saw one of your posts and thinks you might be going through a difficult time. If you need support, we’d like to help.”. This person then has the option to start a conversation with a friend or to contact a local help line.

Besides, Instagram will also give out information in case of eating disorders, help with suicidal thoughts and other problems.

The social media wants to show users that they are surrounded by people. Currently it’s only available in the states, but soon it will be expanded throughout the world.
